Don't know what I'm talking about? Check the link!
I'm so freaking excited for Camp NaNo. Three chances to write three novels? Hell yeah! I need something like this to whoop my butt into the writing mode. Does that make me less of a writer? Meh, maybe.
Usually, what happens every year during NaNo, is that I go by the seat of my pants for each and every story. I usually start with only a character's name, or a setting that I find intriguing - the hard part is coming up with a novel somewhere in there. A story that sprouts from one setting might come off as a little forced. So, even though I barely have one day left as of now, I am going to try my hardest to actually plan my stories.
I already have the timeline sorted out. I've had three novel ideas swimming in my head for quite some time now, and I even attempted one for last year's NaNo. But it came out messy, and I touch it maybe once a month now. It's hard, to figure out where to start - do I keep writing it until it's finished, even though I know that it will be nothing like how I'll edit it? Or do I forsake the NaNo Rules and edit before finishing?
Tough decisions.
Anyway, the timeline for my novels. All three are set in the same world, just in completely different eras for each.
- The first one, is when old magic ruled the world in politics and in life. Ten Mages rule, but when it's threatened by the scorned gods of old, they are going to have to use everything in their power to keep it.
- It jumps forward about five hundred years to the reign of a young monarch who is having problems keeping her rule and her sanity intact. Her parents, the King and Queen, were assassinated violently with a ominous threat to the new Queen.
- Lastly, it leaps forward maybe two thousand years to an era of nuclear fallout, when most of the world has evacuated to sky cities high above the atomic deadlands.
I don't know if you can tell, but I've tried to write the last two. This year, now that I know about Camp NaNo's sessions, I'll be able to attempt all three! Writing in chronological order, of course.
Anyone out there doing Camp NaNo too?
...
Anyone actually reading this?
Oh well. Goodnight!
